Spacebomb Studio is delighted to present, as a first time offering, an Engineering and Production weekend camp led by our founder, producer and recording artist Matthew E. White and chief-engineer Alex De Jong. This camp is designed for adults who have recording experience but would like to dig into the craft, nuance, difficult-to-come-by knowledge and the cheap tricks of recording music. We will focus on the technical aspects of capturing sound, and we will begin to unravel the dark arts of production, all in concept, history and above all practical application. We will discuss how to approach and plan a recording experience, then how to execute that recording, and finally experiment with ways to enhance a piece of recorded music in unexpected ways. The camp will be a focused 20 hours over three days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and is the rarest of opportunities to peak under the hood with Matt and Alex in the homegrown, but far-famed Spacebomb Studio.

The camp will take place June 14 -16 2024 at the studio, 106 S Robinson St.

6/14, Friday: 6 PM - 10 PM

6/15, Saturday 10 AM -7 PM (lunch provided)

6/16, Sunday 10 AM -5 PM

Matthew E. White is a producer, songwriter, sometimes-singer, and Spacebomb’s founder and director.

Matt released his debut album, Big Inner, in 2012 to broad international acclaim. Since then he has released a few more records, his music has been prominently featured in film and television and he has traveled all over the world - he especially likes to tell people he played at the Sydney Opera House. In addition to his own career he has produced records for many other folks, and has helped to guide the wild journey that is Spacebomb - production house, management company, publishing company, record label and studio.

A true arranger, from sheet music to record budgets and recording schedules to corporate structure, Matt is something of a music industry polymath. He currently directs all things Spacebomb, records meditation albums, and thinks a lot about both the past and the future

An audio-engineering wunderkind, Alex De Jong began his career at White Star Sound at the young age of 15. Now a veteran of the studio, he has recorded with thousands of artists including Gwar, Albert Hammond Jr., Flock of Dimes, Lena Fayre, Jason Mraz, and Nate Smith.

A founding member and drummer of the band Sleepwalkers he has toured North America headlining and opening for heavyweights The Lumineers and The Shins.

Alex is currently the chief-engineer and studio manager at Spacebomb Studio. He loves connecting with people, a good reverb and drums recorded in mono
